Kim and I found a small little Hologram train we liked at Home Depot last year when stuff when on sale. Problem was how to fit it onto this years display? Kim came up with the idea of placing it in front of the MegaTree. Then it hit me., it needed tracks!
At that time I was surfing Targets web page looking at lights and saw "chasing multicolor rope light" , DING!!!
I made a instant road trip to Target!
Making the tracks wasn't too hard, even though the final product is the second revision as the first was too small to fit around the BB Goal base. It had to be a minimum of 9 feet diameter to clear the base.
I decided on an easy number 10 ft. After doing a bit of math, and using 3/4 PVC pipe, I cut it in 12 3 ft sections, then made 4 sections using the couplers. From there it was just add the sections with the 45 deg fittings. To make the "ties" I just cut LOTS of 5" strips of pipe and screwed it onto the center pipe. I painted it with Hunter green paint to match everything els in the display. The rope light is wire tied onto each end of the ties. You will come out with unequal strings of rope light which I hid with the train itself.
